Intelligence in Orbit
Space Mission & Simulation Engineer
About Kintaro Space Systems
We are building intelligent spacecraft that can coordinate autonomously and process observations onboard. Our first launch target is December 2028.
About the role
You will design and simulate satellite missions, exploring orbital configurations, coordinated tasking and spacecraft resource constraints.
What you will do
- Use established orbit and numerical tools to model ground tracks, access windows, coverage and revisit.
- Compare orbits, constellation layouts and coordinated tasking strategies across spacecraft, accounting for pointing, power, storage and downlink constraints.
- Connect sensor models and observation scenarios to mission simulations with the hardware and software engineers.
- Check results against reference cases; run sensitivity and Monte Carlo studies and document uncertainty.
- Engage mission-tool providers and researchers; document contacts and findings. Use AI coding tools while checking the underlying mathematics.
About you
- A recent degree in aerospace engineering, physics, applied mathematics or a related field from a leading university.
- Working knowledge of orbital mechanics and numerical methods, with strong Python or MATLAB.
- A project involving orbits, dynamics or numerical simulation that you can explain and reproduce; student and research projects count.
- Curiosity about complete systems, initiative in open-ended problems and the ability to explain assumptions clearly.
Useful exposure (optional): Orbit-analysis tools, NumPy/SciPy, optimisation, attitude dynamics, communications link budgets or student satellite projects.
Show us what you have built. Share your CV, a project or research example and earliest availability. Explain your contribution and what you learned. No prior full-time experience is required.
